Recycling and sustainability for the earth

Don’t Throw it Away

When your FR garment no longer meets safety standards, you may be tempted to throw it away in the trash. Although this seems harmless, North Americans actually create 12 Million tons of textile waste a year. This waste goes directly to our landfills where it will continue to pile up, causing problems in both the present and for the future.

Thankfully, there are things you can do to reduce textile waste. One option that many of our customers could contribute to is recycling worn out FR clothes!

General Recycled is a company in Leduc, Alberta, that’s spent countless hours in research and development, trying to figure out how to make use of old inherent FR material. They’ve refined their process and are now able to take the FR gear that you don’t wear and recycle it into brand new, standard approved FR fabric. It’s really quite amazing what they can do.

The five step process begins with collecting old FR garments and shredding them up. Then they begin creating yarn out of the shredded fibres. After the yarn is made, they can weave and knit it into new FR fabric to be used in manufacturing new coveralls and other FR garments, while meeting all related flash fire and arc flash standards in North America.

You can see their website and get all the information from the link below! We highly recommend you check them out and see their process for yourself!
